About Us

Meet the Chef

Robert Gaustad, also affectionately referred to as “Bobby G”, is chef and part owner of Bobby G’s Pizzeria.  Robert is passionate about food, and has been perfecting his pizza recipe for more than 25 years.  His focus on quality ingredients and his quest for the perfect taste and texture have resulted in many satisfied eaters over the years.  Robert previously helped to launch a successful pizza and pasta restaurant in Sonoma, but is excited to bring his extensive experience and incredible passion for food to our new venture.

In addition to his passion for food, Robert is an avid supporter of the Bay Area blues scene.  Robert is a talented blues harmonica player, and has played with many of the great musicians in the area.  As part of the warm and inviting environment we have created, we are proud to feature some of the best American roots music.  When Robert isn’t busy with his food creations, you might even catch him playing a few bars on his harmonica.

We hope you will stop by and taste the results of Robert’s hard work.  We’re confident you will be impressed with his creations, and we look forward to being your favorite destination in the Bay Area for gourmet pizza, pasta and panini!

In the News

11.04.2007 – PR.com – Bobby G’s Pizzeria "is the first retail establishment in Berkeley, and one of the first in the country, to sell what many consider to be the hottest, or hippest drink on the planet – Bionade organic sodas. Created in Germany, these organic sodas are a huge hit in Europe. Now, after being written up in Time Magazine (Jan. 22, 2007), Bionade is poised to take the U.S. by storm."

08.02.2007 – San Francisco Chronicle – "It's not every pizza joint where you can order a glass of Scharffenberger Brut sparkling wine to wash down your slice.  But you can at Bobby G's, the new kid on the block in downtown Berkeley."

01.10.2007 – San Francisco Chronicle – "Bobby G's Pizzeria brings New York and Neapolitan-style pies to downtown Berkeley."

Community

We believe that businesses can do a lot to support the community and environment, and we are committed to doing just that. We worked with the Bay Area Green Business Program to implement energy efficient appliances and lighting, water conservation techniques, and recycling.  Through our aggressive recycling efforts alone, we are proud to report that our total waste production is now less than that of a standard family household. We were granted official certification in the Bay Area Green Business Program in July 2007, but we remain committed to finding more ways to reduce our environmental impact.

We support sustainable farming and fair trade coffee, supporting the environment and people's right to make a fair living wage in communities around the world. We are committed to making sustainable and eco-friendly choices whenever possible in our business.

We support local non-profits and schools and applaud the great work they do for our communities.  In the short time we have been open for business, we have donated generously to schools, non-profits, and the homeless.

Our dining room is available for meetings, study groups, social gatherings, or fundraising events. We offer a comfortable dining atmosphere, free wireless internet access, and a large LCD monitor that you can easily plug your laptop computer into. If you are a local non-profit, school, or student group in need of any of these services, please contact us at info@BobbyGsPizzeria.com for more information.
